Position Overview
The Design Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the design and engineering activities across multiple projects. The role requires deep technical expertise, project coordination, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to deliver accurate, high-quality engineering designs within timelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Engineering Leadership
Lead the complete design lifecycle — concept, detailed engineering, validation, and final release.
Review and approve technical drawings, layouts, and design documents.
Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety norms, and project specifications.
Coordinate with project managers to align design output with scope and project timelines.
2. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with SCM, procurement, projects, installation teams, and vendors.
Support project engineering teams with design clarifications and technical guidance.
Liaise with clients and consultants to understand design requirements and resolve technical queries.
3. Documentation & Quality Control
Develop and maintain design standards, templates, and checklists.
Ensure proper documentation: BOM, BOQ, drawings, calculation sheets, compliance documents.
Conduct internal design reviews and quality audits before submission.
4. Team Management
Lead, mentor, and train design engineers and draftsmen.
Allocate tasks and monitor progress of design team members.
Conduct skill development programs and ensure continuous improvement.
5. Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for design optimization and cost reduction.
Introduce innovative tools, design software, and best practices.
Contribute to R&D activities and new product development (NPD).
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of design engineering for gas systems, piping, MEP, industrial utilities, or relevant engineering domains.
Expertise in CAD tools: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar.
Understanding of safety standards, compliance codes, and engineering documentation.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, GA drawings, and layouts.

Strong leadership and team-handling capability.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering or related field.
8–10 years of proven experience in engineering design and project coordination.
Experience leading a design team is mandatory.
Certification in design tools, project management, or relevant fields (preferred).
